The five-disc album contains recordings made during the 30 years of activity of the DAFO string quartet. The band, which comes from the Krakow music academy, celebrates its anniversary by taking listeners on a journey back in time. It is no accident that the album's repertoire included recordings of Polish contemporary music - the DAFO quartet specializes in performing new music, for which it has been appreciated many times, including: Fryderyk Award.
The anniversary album has not only a sentimental dimension, it is also an interesting comparison of the works of Polish composers. Despite the differences and clearly recognizable unique elements of the style of each of them, an attentive listener will also notice common features - including: echoes of Polish melodies, rhythms, harmonies referring to folk music, as well as bold sonoristic solutions. The expressive interpretations of the DAFO quartet show the full spectrum of the sound and expressive possibilities of the string ensemble, also in combination with the clarinet and piano, which make guest appearances in selected works.
