Retrospective is the first studio release from Lauren Field since her highly acclaimed "Modern Woman" album in 2003. In the intervening years Lauren signed a pan - European record deal, toured extensively with her band throughout Europe, was a regular performer at London's top jazz clubs and also headlined at London's Royal Albert Hall, released a live CD/DVD double album, "From Berlin to Brooklyn". She continued teaching voice production and song writing and founded "Rock Chorus", an organisation of community choirs singing her own arrangements of contemporary and classic pop and rock songs.

Somewhere in between this and raising a family she has continued to write and record songs with her partner, record producer Charles Foskett, in their home studio and decided that having reached a milestone, the big 5-0, it was time to release a new collection.

"Retrospective" is an eclectic mix of songs written over the last few years. They've managed to whittle it down to 16 songs - there were many more to choose from but they selected their favourites. A mostly self penned collection with some interesting collaborations including Hamish Stewart (Average White Band/Paul McCartney Band) and Zigmars Liepins (The Baltic States' most successful composer). The songs are a mix of autobiographical (though Lauren will never divulge which ones) and observational with one unique take on a classic cover.
