Steven Hammond was a British guitarist who first emerged as a solo act on Pye Records (check out the anthology Quick Before They Catch Us: The Pop Era Vol. 1). He played on Johnny Almond's 1969 album Music Machine Patent Pending on Deram Records (working alongside Zoot Money et al), and then passed through the line-up of Noel Redding's band Fat Mattress (thus technically becoming a "successor" of sorts to Jimi Hendrix, at least in terms of Redding's career) before joining the Hill, work with whom got him onto Chris Farlowe's From Here To Mama Rosa in 1970. He also played on the Introvert album by guitarist/singer Jonathan Swift, but his most important gig of the 1970's was as a member of Mick Farren & The Deviants, and he later played on Farren's first solo album as well. He passed away in 1992.
