M.Cadoo & P.Stephan - Pang of Being (2024)

Pang of Being is the second album from the collaborative project of Bay Area musicians Mike Cadoo and Paul Stephan. This follow-up to 2018's Ujat​—jhem finds the duo further experimenting with their respective signal chains and then sculpting their collective outputs into a cohesive whole. While its predecessor was a study of experimentation that pushed beyond the boundaries of either artist's comfort level, Pang of Being is, in contrast, a purification of the duo, a means of catharsis. The works are equally as tense as they are melodic. Melancolia rubs up against brute force bass submersion and industrialized beatwork that showcases the honesty of both artists in equal measure. It's a natural evolution displaying the antiquities in their recently released collaborative output. Pang of Being is available on cassette, limited to 20 units worldwide.
