Swing-era big-band trombonist, arranger, composer, and bandleader, Glenn Miller (1904-1944) was the best-selling recording artist from 1939 to 1943, leading one of the best-known big bands, celebrated on both sides of the Atlantic. In just four years, Miller scored 23 numberone hits, more than Elvis Presley (18 No. 1s, 38 top 10s) and The Beatles (20 No. 1s, 33 top 10s) did in their careers. His sudden death at age 40 in an aviation accident also contributed to his legendary status.

Miller’s greatest hits include “In the Mood,” “Moonlight Serenade,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” “Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” “A String of Pearls,” “(I’ve Got a Gal In) Kalamazoo,” “American Patrol,” “Tuxedo Junction,” and “Little Brown Jug,”all of which are present on this set.
