Swiss choral music of the late Romantic period: Basel formed the backbone of Swiss vocal music in the 19th and 20th centuries. This recording is dedicated to composers who lived and worked in and around Basel and had a significant influence on the development of choral music. The programme traces the beginnings and development of this vocal high culture and presents hidden treasures of this vocal creation. Together with pianist Tobias Schabenberger, the virtuoso voices of the Basler Madrigalisten present a magnificent bouquet of beguiling sounds: a charming musical encounter from the Romantic period to the 20th century - as profound as it is humorous and always entertaining.
