Anthony Plant's first album release 'The Colour of Out Space' is a journey through contemporary jazz, and shines from start to finish. His stunning compositions, coupled with his refreshingly lyrical guitar playing, make for a superb debut. World-class musicians Peter Champagne, James Driscoll, Eymard Furtado, Stockton Helbing, and Clay Pritchard join him for a truly diverse album. From the hypnotic groove of the first track, 'Sphere', weaving Wes-type octaves in the beginning to conjuring images of Clapton near the end, you immediately hear his exceptional touch and lyrical phasing. You'll find him skillfully blending jazz, rock, blues, bossa nova, R&B, and other styles throughout the album. Some highlights include his striking ballad 'Wishing You Were Here', 'Bellerophon', 'The Nameless City' (with Clay Pritchard on tenor sax), the avant-garde title track 'The Colour Out of Space' featuring Stockton Helbing's drumming (of Maynard Ferguson fame), the ECM-style Ross LaFleur composition 'Fleeting Memory', and his beautiful bossa nova 'A Dream Within a Dream', which spotlights Eymard Furtado's brilliant piano playing.
