Giuseppe Campisi, Camil Arcarazo & Marçal Perramon - Somewhere (2024) [Hi-Res]

The artistic scene in Barcelona is renowned for its quality, diversity, and creative energy, and the world of jazz and improvised music is no exception. One artist who has undoubtedly put our city on the international map for this genre is Jorge Rossy. With his impressive career as a drummer and vibraphonist, Rossy is recognized as a leading figure in his field and has been involved in many seminal recordings that have influenced and shaped us.

This makes us especially excited to have him as a guest on this project. Fate brought our paths together here in Barcelona in September 2023, leading to two magical days in the studio —days that will stay with us forever. The result is this album now in your hands. “Somewhere” —named after Leonard Bernstein’s composition, to which we’ve paid tribute in this recording— represents the collective effort, imagination, and creativity of Camil Arcarazo (guitar), Marçal Perramon (saxophone), and myself, Giuseppe Campisi (double bass), enhanced by the contribution of maestro Jorge Rossy on drums —who, with his skills, experience, and vision, has added a touch of magic to the music. We are also thankful for the exceptional sensitivity of pianist Sunil López, who guest stars on three tracks, “Deep Down Raval,” “I Surrender Dear,” and “Pure Imagination.”

To conclude, we are especially thrilled that this album, which seeks to balance tradition and modernity, is being released by Fresh Sound New Talent. This label, represented by Jordi Pujol —a key figure on the European jazz scene— is renowned for its support of new projects and is one of Barcelona's great treasures. We are deeply grateful for their support.
