Charlotte Wassy - Cadence (2024)

Musician, singer, vocalist and composer, Charlotte Wassy now brings us the second album from her quintet, following Niam in 2013. Cadence features 11 tracks and 5 interludes. It comes in 4 shades, reflecting the emotions of the 4 seasons. It was his drummer father, Brice Wassy, who inspired him to make authentic music: “K'u Jazz, as he calls it, returns jazz to its original African influences, creating a rich, distinctive music blending many inspirations. Drawing on a wide variety of styles and traditional music from all over the world, Charlotte Wassy mixes a wide range of styles in her compositions (she composes 14 of the 16 tracks on the album). She claims a style all her own, called Jazz Métissé Instinctif, and creates her own music surrounded by devilishly good musicians: Felipe Cabrera, double bass (on one track), Irving Acao, tenor saxophone, Léonardo Montana, piano, and Arnaud Dolmen, drums (on a second track). It goes without saying that the Lady's voice should be added to the list of instruments mentioned, as its contribution and musical use are absolutely fundamental. A powerful album full of infectious energy!
