Tobias Meissl Trio - Mr. Resolved (2024) [Hi-Res]

On its first record "Mr. Resolved", the Tobias Meissl Trio, consisting of Tobias Meissl (Vibraphone), Ivar Roban Križić (Bass), and Valentin Duit (Drums), presents a selection from its ever-growing repertoire of original compositions by the bandleader, which has developed through intensive collaboration over the course of the past three years. The material contains a mixture of older and, at the point of recording, very recent pieces which are notated in more and less detail and, while being stylistically inspired and informed by various kinds of music, ultimately have their own original sound. Documented here is not only the current state of a highly interactive and conversational way of playing together as a group, but also the understanding of the respective pieces at that moment in time. To provide for as much nuanced ensemble playing as possible in every respect, it was a main concern to record together in one room without too much separation in order to best capture the multifaceted sound of the group. The highly gratifying collaboration with Thomas Lang, his magic and, not least, the recording room he designed made this album a special sonic experience.
