Preceded by the single Samba pra Elis, the new album of Nagual, alias Giovanni Ancorato, «Anna», which the Venetian saxophonist has recorded with the same quartet of the previous «Italocarioca». But here, the already evident Latin American vein is even more accentuated: Brazilian music and especially Bossa Nova are the clear reference of a repertoire that although it includes ten original compositions of the leader. Seven of these are instrumental tunes, while the other are suggestive songs (with lyrics by Nagual himself), including the title–track too, beautifully performed by Silvia Donati, special guest of the album. The tenor saxophonist leads a tight–knit quartet that has in the piano of Paolo Vianello another of his most inspired voices. Perfectly right is revealed in this regard the refined bass–and–drum team by Paolo Andriolo and Roberto Rossi, who are today in Italy among the most sought–after specialists of Brazilian Popular Music, as well as the deep and warm voice of Silvia Donati, particularly comfortable with Bossa Nova.
