YATTA - PALM WINE (2024)

'PALM WINE' by YATTA is an album born out of years of travel, self-reflection, and the search for love, transformed into a joyful return to oneself, God, and clarity. Recorded over five years in London, Los Angeles, Houston, and New York, it follows their poetic album 'WAHALA' (2019). The title references the West African drink, the musical genre, and the project Iron & Wine. YATTA discovered that their granduncle, S.E. Rogie, was a pioneer of the palm wine genre. While the album doesn’t strictly adhere to the genre, it borrows its lightness, melodiousness, and storytelling. Filled with an experimental spirit, the album leans more toward pop sounds and was created in collaboration with producers like felicita, So Drove, and Myles Avery. If 'WAHALA' was filled with pain and questions, 'PALM WINE' is a purified space for peace and joy.
