Woods Of Birnam is a new Dresden-based band founded by the successful band Polarkreis 18 and actor Christian Friedel. Their debut album showcases their prowess in the indie pop rock genre. A connection to Polarkreis 18 is formed, although Woods Of Birnam's sound is a little more modern, it still retains a spherical and dreamy atmosphere. They wrote and recorded the title song for a modern interpretation of Hamlet and musically accompanied the play during its performance. The band is perfect about Beherrscht's interplay of loud and quiet as well as the use of pauses. Friedel's voice is convincing in the English-language, skillfully lyrical lines and sounds dynamic and varied throughout the album. The overall concept of the album is well worked out. The whole project, from the design of the disk to the video and the band's performances on stage, is thought out to the smallest detail. The album was produced by Tobias Siebert and mastered by Bo Condren.
