ML Wah - Sight Unfolding (2024) [Hi-Res]

Soon after releasing Mirrored Night and New Horizon in 2022, I began working on a new piano project. I was helping a friend move, and noticed a piano in the corner of the living room. A couple of days later, I returned with a microphone and recorded myself playing for her while she packed her things.

Unlike the short pieces on Mirrored Night, the goal for Sight Unfolding was to create longer compositions using simple, repeating phrases with added countermelodies. Gradually, electric guitar and saxophone joined the piano, with saxophone played by Wednesday Knudsen. Her playing and spirit filled the track "Living Space," where five saxophone parts play simultaneously in different parts of the stereo field, adding freshness. Sight Unfolding became, for me, a musical journey and a symbol of arrival.
