Peter Brötzmann , Paal Nilssen-Love - Butterfly Mushroom (2024)

Butterfly Mushroom, recorded in Antwerp in 2015, is an energetic free jazz performance that reunites legendary saxophonist Peter Brötzmann with Norwegian drummer Paal Nilssen-Love. This concert continues the story started with the studio recording Chicken Shit Bingo, released earlier this year. Brötzmann, exploring the contralto clarinet alongside the bass saxophone and tárogató, creates surprisingly meditative and melodic sounds. Nilssen-Love complements this with rhythms enhanced by Korean gongs. The album stands out for its calmer atmosphere, focusing on silence and delicate musical dynamics.
