Salif Keita - Yamore (2024)

Salif Keita, a musician from Mali, has brought griot songs, representing the oral culture of West Africa, to world music with his unique voice. Keita, himself an albino, founded the organization SOS Albino to bring attention to the problem of albinism. He has been recognized both in Africa and around the world, combining Mali's rich musical heritage with pop music to convey his message of optimism. His songs convey African emotions such as joy, enthusiasm and pain, and especially his work “Yamore” has deeply penetrated the hearts of listeners. Keita is recognized as an important artiste who stays optimistic and remains connected to his roots. For him, happiness begins “here and now” rather than in the future, and his album “Moffou” reflects this philosophy best.
