In 1967, following the dissolution of the group Four Singers, Yoko Dan, Kayoko Ishu (currently active as Kayo Ishu), and Michiko Ogata (Michiko Fujimura) formed Singers 3. Shortly after, Yoko Dan married and moved to the United States. The remaining members continued performing with another artist. New members Tomoko Inoue and Mayumi Fukuda joined, and the group released their first album, Foliole #2, in 1971. Inoue remained the third permanent member of the group afterward.
