Amos Milburn - Million Sellers (1962)

Amos Milburn (1927–1980) was an American singer and pianist, one of the pioneers of rhythm and blues and boogie-woogie.

Born in Houston, Texas, he showed musical talent from an early age, teaching himself to play the piano. At 15, he joined the U.S. Navy, and after returning, he formed a 16-piece band that performed in Houston clubs.

In 1946, Milburn signed a contract with Aladdin Records, where he recorded more than 75 songs over eight years. His first hit, "Chicken Shack Boogie" (1948), topped the R&B charts and marked the beginning of a series of successful tracks, many of which were themed around fun and alcohol, such as "Bad, Bad Whiskey" and "One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer."

In the early 1960s, Milburn signed with Motown Records, releasing two singles and the album The Return of the Blues Boss (1963). Although these works were not commercially successful, they showcased his enduring talent and influence on the genre.

Milburn significantly influenced later artists, such as Fats Domino, and left a lasting legacy in rhythm and blues and rock and roll history. His energetic compositions and virtuoso piano playing continue to inspire musicians and music lovers worldwide.
