Hellbach - Hikikomori I, II (2024) [Hi-Res]

Hellbach is a Berlin based composer and producer of electronic music. Using his uncompromising analogue approach, his compositions are an eclectic blend of various genres like ambient, Berlin School and Neoclassical, with influences reaching from Brian Eno to Kraftwerk.

His new album 'Hikikomori' is about Yamada Taro - one of a million Hikikomori living in Japan. A resident of Shibuya (Tokyo), he hasn’t spoken to anyone in years and leaves his apartment only a few times a month, always at night, buying food and magazines in his favorite convenience store. Taro‘s life doesn’t change. The days don’t change. It’s same day after same day, the next day, and the next. This is for you, Taro.

His new album 'Hikikomori II' is about Yamada Hanako. She lives in Setagaya, a district of Tokyo. She is a so-called rental sister, paid by the parents of the Hikikomori Yamada Taro, to visit their son two times a week. For three hours she sits in front of his room and speaks to him through the closed door. Taro never answers. Lately, she writes him letters and slips them underneath his door. She doesn't know if he reads them. This is for you, Hanako.
