Antonio Simone - To Giants (2024) [Hi-Res]

This is Simone's second album, following his debut "On My Path" released in 2022. The trio includes Angelo Verbenna on bass and Marcello Spaluzzi on drums. Unlike the debut album, which focused on original compositions, "To Giants" presents contemporary interpretations of jazz standards by renowned artists such as Joe Zawinul, John Coltrane, Ahmad Jamal, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and Herbie Hancock.

The album pays homage to various jazz pianists and composers who have significantly influenced the genre's evolution. It showcases a range of styles, reflecting the versatility of the piano in jazz. Additionally, the album includes a solo piano piece titled "Remembering Sante's Way," composed by Simone as a tribute to the esteemed Italian jazz pianist Sante Palumbo.
