Luigi Martinale Trio - Le Sue Ali (2009)

Twelve years ago (1997), the Torino-born pianist Luigi Martinale, who is also known for his appointment of his fellow countryman, the young Fabrizio Bosso (tp), was invited to play with this trio. The trio is back again with New York's prodigy Drew Gress (b), with whom they played together on the piano trio masterpiece “Sweet Malta”. This is an ideal model of “contemporary Italian jazz piano” that boasts warm and gentle melodies full of originality, well-crafted musical development, and a high level of harmonic technique. The contents can be enjoyed by a wide range of listeners, from core jazz fans to the general public.
