**Summary:**

Dutch-Surinamese multi-instrumentalist Ronald Snijders is set to release his new album *Penta* on November 22 via Night Dreamer. A celebrated yet underappreciated jazz artist, Snijders blends Latin, Brazilian, Surinamese, and jazz-funk influences with the electric sounds of Weather Report, showcasing his virtuosity on the flute and compositional brilliance. Recorded direct-to-disc at Artone Studio with a talented ensemble of European musicians, *Penta* seamlessly fuses rhythms, improvisation, and hybrid styles, echoing the energy of a live jazz-funk session.

Highlights include the kaseko-inspired opener *Kaseko Sisters*, funk-driven tracks like *Nevertheless* and *Basic Things*, the Rio de Janeiro-infused *Nite Time*, and *Fusionize*, which redefines jazz fusion. The album closes with *Maseko* and the serene Caribbean waltz *Valsa*.

Born in Suriname and son of composer Eddy Snijders, Ronald gained recognition in the Netherlands with his 1977 debut *Natural Sources*, a groundbreaking self-produced album. Despite his accolades, including the Boy Edgar Prize in 2022, Snijders’ global recognition remains limited. *Penta* and the reissue of his earlier works aim to spotlight his unique sound, which bridges Suriname and Europe in a timeless and original style.
