Jacob Desvarieux - Yélélé (2007)

Founded in 1979 by Jacob Desvarieux and the Décimus brothers, Kassav’ has become legendary for popularizing zouk music and putting Guadeloupe and Martinique on the global musical map. Their vibrant music, which blends Caribbean rhythms like gwo-ka and ti-bwa with real-life Caribbean themes, has earned them numerous gold and platinum albums. Kassav’ has toured extensively, performing sold-out concerts in 82 countries and breaking barriers as the first black musicians to tour in places such as Japan and the former USSR. Despite the tragic loss of Jacob Desvarieux in 2021 due to Covid, the group's timeless hits continue to resonate worldwide. Celebrating four decades, Kassav’ remains an influential and beloved force in the music industry, transcending traditional Caribbean music boundaries and maintaining their legacy as icons of zouk.
