This is about genuine crooners, somewhere between schmaltz and sentiment. Most of the singers presented are unknown “cantanti” who would otherwise have to take a back seat to the names of composers (e.g. Francesco De Masi, Nico Fidenco or Stelvio Cipriani) or movie titles ( “For a Few Corpses More”, “Naked Among Cannibals” or “A Man for a Night”). In addition, this compilation is a tribute to the Roman label Beat Records, which has released countless soundtracks and the solo works of the contributing artists since the 1960s.
