From the opening chords and plucked guitar notes of Future Fusion, it is clear Sound of Hue is different from the dnb Pinecone Moonshine usually features. So putting aside the inharmonic and droning backdrops of the label, Opius and Dacamera take turns showcasing other musical possibilities of breakbeat driven drumfunk and deeply embedded jazz fusion, blues, and bebop. As they trade off, both stick to their own sound: Opius leaning into massive drum solos which react and weave around jazz and funk instruments sitting upon rich, ambient pads. And Dacamera building cinematic arrangements of mysterious and subtle tones along with his unique drum kits. Remixes are provided by Profane in his signature drum programming style, and Nic TVG has reconstructed Changing Scenes out of his own records. Additional note about the ideation of Sound of Hue by Opius: [Dacamera] approached me about a joint project which I was delighted about, being that hes an artist I rate highly. After bouncing ideas, we decided on Sound of Hue as the concept title as we wanted to showcase how versatile drumfunk/breakbeat drum and bass can be, and how musical and deep with our different colours/flavours - like shades of the genres spectrum.
