“…He plays with the passion and strength of a veteran. We’ll hear about him in the future!”
Joe Lovano
Luigi Di Nunzio represents the umpteenth surprise that springs from the extraordinary Neapolitan reality. Certainly it is one of the greatest Italian talents of the last decade. Saxophonist with extraordinary qualities that has not escaped the attentive and overpowering ear even of Joe Lovano. In the previous album for Abeat Records (“Inexistent” ABJZ533), alongside international giants such as Antonio Faraò, Jane Jackson and Darryl Hall) he had shown excellent technique and perfect mastery of the swing language, now Di Nunzio, with his new work, already marks a turning point in his recent career. “The Game” is based on an extremely modern sound with strong influences derived from electronic music and the result of 4 years of experimentation, collaborations and experiences in musical genres such as hip hop, rap, electronic music. The result was a new and unprecedented compositional style, and the title of the album, The game, sums up this joyful journey.
In addition to the young Neapolitan saxophonist, Marco Fiorenzano took part to the album, synth and piano rhodes, Umberto Lepore, bass and bass synth, and Marco Castaldo, on drums.
