Waveform - Waveform (2009)

The debut of the Split group Waveform, whose backbone consists of the author, arranger, producer and guitarist Miro Alduk and co-author, co-producer and drummer Jan Ivelić, was recorded in 2008, one year after the band was founded in Dada Marušić's Deva Studio. The frequency of the fusion sound attracted saxophonist Dražen Bogdanović, bass guitarist Nena Miškec and keyboardist Ivan Božičević. Through nine original compositions by the Alduk-Ivelić duo, they created an unpretentious and authentic album. Energetic concert announced in the song Mr. Hide, which opens the album, continues in No Way and A Story To Tell. In the middle of the album, the performances are diluted, which is felt most in Lonely Sunset and Transformation, and finally with the composition Empty Pockets, they return to the trail of the primary meaning of fusion, as a combination of the ferocity of rock and jazz improvisation. I hope that the Final Cut song that ends the CD does not contain the nomen est omen message, because Waveform gave us a hint with their debut that their time is yet to come.
