Born in Fano (PU), in the Marche region, she began studying piano privately at the age of 8, at 10 she entered the “G. Rossini” Conservatory of Music in Pesaro, where she studied classical piano with Hugo Aisemberg and Lorenzo Bavaj , and graduated in classical piano in 2007 with very good grades. He then opened up to jazz and singing and finally to composition, studying self-taught and privately, attending seminars, and playing jazz clubs, clubs and jam sessions.
On stage from a very young age, Elena has a very high number of concerts organized by various bodies (including the Fano Jazz Festival, AMAT Marche, Confcommercio Marche Nord, Confartigianato Marche, various jazz clubs, various cultural associations, various Municipalities and the proloco of various city and various bodies and organizations of national importance), for various occasions, including the 2016 “FANO JAZZ BY THE SEA” Festival for Street Jazz in Town, the “La Cupa Jazz Festival” in Ancona (AN) (2023) , the “Piazza Conchiglia Summer” Festival in Civitanova Marche (2023), “Fuori dal Guscio 2024” Festival, the “Opa-Tsupa” festival in Tolentino (MC) (2023), various reviews and concerts in well-known venues and public places, (including the Rocca di Mondavio , Rocca Malatestiana in Fano, the Artists’ Park in Rimini, etc…), theatres (including the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano, the Apollo theater in Mondavio, the Teatro della Rocca Ubaldinesca in Sassocorvaro), in various jazz clubs (such as jazz clubs “Ai Giardini” of Imola-BO, “Osteria della Vigna” in Gabicce Monte -PU, jazz club “Milleluci” Rimini), and in various jazz and musical events in general, in the Dino and Enzo Ferrari racetrack of Imola (BO), and in many squares of Italian cities and in well-known public places, as solo pianist, four-hand pianist, solo pianist leader and singer of his own jazz trio, pianist in various jazz formations from trio to octet, pianist in duo and in other formations of other and different genres (classical music, tango Argentine, jazz, blues, contemporary music, Italian songwriting, minimalist music), and as a pianist in theater performances of various genres.
Among Elena’s best collaborations, those with vibraphonist Marco Pacassoni in 2019 stand out, who played on Elena’s album INTROSPECTIONS, released in 2020 on the “Notami Jazz” record label.
Furthermore, in March 2023 Elena collaborated, as a pianist and improviser, with the drummer and percussionist Ivan Gambini (Nicola Piovani’s drummer and percussionist).
On September 3, 2020, Elena’s album INTROSPECTIONS will be released on the “Notami Jazz” label, consisting of original songs completely composed and arranged by Elena, in which she plays the piano and sings. The band is completed by Giacomo Bartolucci on drums, Eros Rambaldi on double bass and effects, Marco Pacassoni on vibraphone. The album is made up of 4 all original songs: Incoming Resolution, Waiting, Incomplete, Like in Heaven for a while, for a total duration of approximately 55 minutes.
The album obtained various positive feedback from music critics (including the review on “Alias” of “il Manifesto” by Guido Michelone), and various radio broadcasts, including in the prestigious “Battiti” program on Radio 3 (episode of 02/03/2021). The originality of the album emerges from the contamination of genres within each single composition, moving from classical music to free jazz, from Celtic music to progressive, from minimalist style to oriental music, from ethnic jazz to contemporary music, from new age music to world music, from pop music to chillout and experimental music, without neglecting an important cinematic vein, in an alternation of gritty, cheerful, introspective, intimate and very melodic moments. In short, an avant-garde album that goes beyond musical genres, and which deeply transports the listener on a continuous “multidimensional” journey.
Elena’s new EP, “ENNIO”, was released on October 11, 2024 by the record label “AlfaMusic” of Rome. It is an “easy listening” EP with a predominantly cinematic and contemporary feel, recorded years ago by Elena, consisting of 4 original songs plus a bonus track (Glory, Struggle for Hope, The dance of Liberation, Floating into a dream, Glory bonus track piano solo version), all composed and arranged by Elena, featuring Giacomo Bartolucci on percussion and drums, Marco Colombari on violin, Riccardo Busetto on violin, and, in 2 songs, Tommaso Vecchiarelli on electronics.
Around mid March 2025, Elena’s new album, “BAD AND GOOD TIMES”, recorded at the end of September 2024 at the “AlfaMusic Studio” in Rome, will be released by the “ALFAMUSIC” label from Rome. The album will consist of original songs composed and arranged entirely by Elena, which mainly refer to the new trends of the contaminated contemporary jazz scene (pop influences, r&b, jazzhop, minimalist music), in which Elena plays the piano and sings, Giacomo Bartolucci on drums, Eros Rambaldi on double bass and effects (songs included: Lost, Marameo, All that Remains, Rebirth, Evolving Quiet).
Two new EP by Elena are almost ready for the release: they are composed by songs that are part of a new project with Tommaso Vecchiarelli (aka Fluxwarp) on electronics and electric bass: This is an experimental project with various influences (jazztronica, nu-jazz, lounge jazz, jazzhop, electrojazz, R&B, hip-hop, pop, fusion), consisting of entirely original songs (apart from a couple of reinterpretations of 2 well-known pop-rock songs) and composed and arranged by Elena and Tommaso Vecchiarelli. The project, therefore, sees Elena on the piano and Tommaso Vecchiarelli on electronics and electric bass.
In 2017 Elena composed the music for the single “L’oceano di Ivan”, recorded on CD and self-produced, dedicated to Ivan Cottini, in which Elena, in addition to composing the music and making the arrangements, plays the piano. The following collaborated in the production of the CD: Daniele Ferri on the arrangements, Manrico Caldari on the guitar and Veriana Maria Bamba on the vocals.
Since 2018 Elena has collaborated steadily with the actor and director Pietro Conversano, playing and performing her own music, which she composed, arranged and improvised, in various theatrical shows, mainly themed around Dante. Furthermore, Elena also collaborates, as a pianist, composer and improviser, with other actors for theatrical/literary shows of various kinds, including in the theatrical-musical show “Ciao Amore Ciao” an investigation on Luigi Tenco, of the “Asini bardasci” company.
Furthermore, Elena has various other original compositions of hers, in a contemporary/minimalist/
neoclassical style,
also with spaces of her piano improvisations, which will be part of a near future Elena EP or album (songs for now included in another future EP: Drop in to Ocean, Falling).
With her trio (Elena Lodovici: piano, voice, arrangements, music; Eros Rambaldi: double bass: Giacomo Bartolucci: drums), Elena also has another project, partially connected to the Introspections disc: a TRIBUTE TO FRANCO BATTIATO: a reinterpretation customized, with arrangements and melodies that resume and mix with those/ and of some pieces of Introspections, of some of the most famous songs of the Maestro (the cure, the season of love, I want to see you dance, permanent center of gravity, cuccurucucu, Alexander Platz, the animal), through a long medley of about 1 hour, presented in concert on several occasions.
In June 2016 Elena reached the final in the “Festival Giovani per la Musica” competition organized by the Rossini Orchestra of Pesaro (PU), presenting, in a trio version (piano and voice, drums, electric bass), 2 of her original unpublished compositions (Incoming Resolution, Incomplete, now included in the album INTROSPECTIONS, publisher “Notami Jazz”), which saw her engaged not only on the piano, arrangements and compositions, but also on vocals.
A piano teacher, Elena has held ensemble music workshops in schools for many years, and also has a master’s degree in economics and management.
