Golden Ratio - Cosmic Journey (2025) [Hi-Res]

"Cosmic Journey" is the culmination of a creative partnership forged during the lockdown of 2020. What began as a remote exchange of musical ideas between Simon and Gary blossomed into a vibrant and expansive body of work, a testament to their shared passion for the rich tapestry of jazz-funk and acid jazz.

Simon Stoll elaborates, “It all started as a lockdown project in 2020 with Gary and myself exchanging ideas down the ether which grew into a body of work that we were excited to take further. We continued with the online process and enlisted some musicians we knew to fill in the gaps.”

This collaborative spirit is evident throughout the album, featuring a stellar lineup of guest musicians:
Jake Telford: Sax and flute, co-writer on "Morphology" and "Natural Law."
Andre Espeut: Vocals, co-writer on "Stand Up & Fight," "One Family," and "Wake Up To The Day."
Filippo Galli: Drums (tracks 1 & 2).
George Addison-Atkinson: Drums (tracks 3-9).
Kevin Davy: Trumpet on "Breaking Through Time."
Gianluca Chiarella: Guitar solo on "Morphology."
Mohammed Nazam: Guitar on "One Family."

Simon’s musical history includes a stint with Mamas Gun in their early days, followed by extensive collaborations within the vibrant North London music scene since the late 90s. Gary’s impressive resume boasts contributions to the dance mix of David Byrne’s “Lazy” (produced by DJ Mark Wilkinson), performances with Funkshy (Tansay Omar project), Charlotte Kelly (Soul II Soul), and a residency at the legendary Iceni club in the 90s.

"It’s long been our dream to have our own project featuring original compositions and dedicated to the style of music we love, our roots being the jazz funk and acid jazz scenes from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s," states Gary. "We now have the opportunity to try and realise this dream and Splash Music Productions is a perfect fit for us as it echoes and promotes those same musical influences.”
