Legendary Singing Stars - Good Old Way (2024)

In 1960, Tommy Ellison and Billie Hardie joined forces in Brooklyn, NY to form the Five Singing Stars. Hardie left for a time to form a gospel group of his own, but made his way back to the Singing Stars in 2008 at the request of Ellison, who had been diagnosed with lung cancer and hoped that Hardie would carry on their group’s legacy. Hardie proudly took the torch, and following Ellison’s passing, the group renamed itself “The Legendary Singing Stars,” memorializing Ellison and his musical impact. Now 84, Hardie shares lead vocal duties with 23 year old Michael Boone, who has performed with the group since he was 15.

These songs were recorded live in 2022 at the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival in Colorado. The group that spans generations holds nothing back, and the energy of a crowd being swept up (quite literally, Hardie lifted a child in a passionate testimonial) by the Stars, radiates, harkening back to the Good Old Days and the formation of the Singing Stars.
