Founded in Brussels in 2018 by Guillaume Cazalet on guitar/bass and vocals and veteran saxophonist Jean Jacques Duerinckx, NEPTUNIAN MAXIMALISM and its multiple “Arkestra” formulas is an experimental collective pushing the boundaries of drone, free jazz, and doom metal by trance-inducing rhythms, cosmic psychedelia, and primal sonic rituals. With each release so far - from the highly praised epic album trilogy of "ÉONS" to the krautrock/free jazz space opera of "Solar Drone Ceremony" and the live documents of "Finis Gloriae Mundi" and "Set The Chaos To The Heart Of The Moon" - NNMM conjured immersive sonic landscapes that transcend time and space.

Recorded in 2023 at St John’s on Bethnal Green church in London for The Judgment Hall Festival and expertly mastered by James Plotkin, NEPTUNIAN MAXIMALISM's new album "Le Sacre Du Soleil Invaincu (LSDSI)" is a monumental journey that captures a transformative experience within the church's walls, merging architecture, energy, and sound thanks to a hypnotic blend of amplified drones, Indian classical music and raw spiritual energy.

Over four days, NNMM undertook a residency in the church, forming an unusual yet profound bond with its architecture and the history and energy it held within. In this space, they morphed into a new entity, turning their performance into an ecstatic experience. The resulting final piece spans two hours and revisits 3 Ragas of Indian classical music: Raga Marwa, Raga Todi and Raga Bairagi.

Once again exalted by a cover painting from Japanese artist Kaneko Tomiyuki, "Le Sacre Du Soleil Invaincu" seems to describe a rite of passage. The listener is taken on a soothing, slow adrift into a nebulous dusk where hypnotizing melodies merge with the shock of heavy yet shimmering drones. Emerging from a black hole, the tenebrous bells of the Surbahar announce a threatening trip into a night haunted by the wrath of battling spirits, where relentless war drums violently fight vampiric guitar leads, finally resolving in a sneaky groove. The psychedelic journey resumes with the dissolved elements coagulating into a solid new form, ready to rise from the grave at The Judgment horn's calling, for the rebirth and blossom of a seed in a bare ground. It's a merciful lament of everlasting notes full of love and grace that accompany the cycle to its end.
