Fabio Bergamini’s 7 Portais (Belic Music, 2024) is a percussion-driven odyssey that weaves together ancient rhythms and contemporary innovation. Conceived initially as a solo percussion project, it evolved into a collaborative exploration of nature’s cycles and humanity’s shared heartbeat, anchored by Bergamini’s evocative handpan and a rich tapestry of traditional instruments.

The album features 22 guest artists representing India, South Africa, Mozambique, Japan, Angola, Portugal, Brazil, Switzerland, France, and beyond. Alongside the handpan, listeners encounter mbira, balafon, berimbau, timbilas, taiko drums, tabla, jembe, agogô, marimbas, metallophone, and more. Vocal contributions—from Mozambican Lenna Bahulle to Swiss-Brazilian Taïs Reganelli and Angolan-Portuguese Ruca Rebordão—imbue the tracks with cultural depth and narrative voice.
