Danish Schlager singer and actress, born June 29, 1946, in Aarhus, Denmark, and frequently billed solely as Gitte.
Debuted on record at the age of 8 in a duet with her father, band leader Otto Hænning, with the song Kære Gud, Lad Din Sol Faa Lov At Skinne / Jeg Vil Giftes Med Farmand that became a national hit in Denmark.
As a teenager she started parallel careers in Denmark, Sweden and Germany, gradually making Germany her prime market and home, though she still released records and appeared in movies in Denmark.
Represented Germany in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Junger Tag.
