From This Moment On is the debut album by Filipino-born singer Mario Ponce Enrile. Conceived in Paris and recorded in the United States at the legendary Rudy Van Gelder Studio in New Jersey, this record pays tribute to the vocal jazz tradition while asserting a unique voice. Joined by Stefan Vasnier on piano, Frédéric Sayag on double bass, and Keith Balla on drums, Mario revisits a selection of jazz standards, favoring soft and melancholic ballads. The repertoire, deliberately diverging from conventional choices, blends rare pieces with reimagined classics. Focusing on jazz standards from the 1920s to the 1950s, it explores themes of love, longing, and nostalgia, all through a fresh, personal, and unexpected approach.

Each track benefits from meticulous arrangements designed to highlight Mario Ponce Enrile's voice, captured under exceptional acoustic conditions. Thanks to the unique sound qualities of Van Gelder Studio—particularly its main room, nicknamed “The Chapel” for its natural reverberation—the recording reconnects with the tradition of great vocal jazz sessions. While Mario sings from a separate room, his voice rises with striking clarity, carried by the resonant space of The Chapel where the musicians perform. The result is a rare sonic immersion, where each piece envelops the listener in an atmosphere that is both intimate, warm, and deeply immersive.

Based in Paris since 2003, Mario is involved in a range of projects combining music production, theater, and jazz. He collaborates with numerous figures on the European jazz scene, including Stefan Vasnier, Gaël Horellou, Géraud Portal, Luigi Grasso, Gilles Naturel, and Alain Jean-Marie.
