After four years of profound upheaval—including illness, divorce, and a major life move—Reed Turchi returns to his musical roots with World On Fire, a raw, live-recorded album of vintage blues and spirituals. The songs, long familiar to Turchi, now carry new emotional weight as he sings them from lived experience, seeking healing, clarity, and authenticity.

Recorded over two nights with no edits or overdubs, the album strips everything down to its essentials: acoustic guitar, upright bass, drums, and Turchi’s expressive slide guitar and aching vocals. The result is a haunting, deeply intimate collection in the tradition of Muddy Waters’ Folk Singer and Springsteen’s Nebraska.

Turchi’s journey includes near-death illness (later diagnosed as a rare form of Crohn’s), emotional reckoning, and a full life reset. That experience shaped the album’s stark atmosphere and themes of grief, faith, and personal rebirth. Tracks like “Walk With Me,” “Don’t Leave Me Baby,” and “Lay My Burden Down” reflect loneliness, longing, and hope.

Deeply connected to his family history and musical lineage, Turchi plays his step-grandmother’s Harmony H162 guitar—linking his story to those of the blues legends who inspired him.

With World On Fire, Turchi not only reclaims traditional songs but also reclaims himself. It’s a soul-searching, emotionally potent record that feels both like a culmination of his past and a bold new beginning.
