Majoie Hajary - Requiem pour Mahatma Gandhi (2025)

Majoie Hajary was a Dutch-French composer and pianist whose work in the late 1960s and early 1970s in Paris exemplified a radical fusion of Western classical music and Indian musical traditions.

Requiem pour Mahatma Gandhi (1968):
– Commissioned to mark the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, this requiem blends Indian spiritual depth with European musical forms. Through this work, Hajary paid homage to Gandhi’s ideals by weaving Indian instruments and melodic structures into a Western-style memorial composition.
