There's something deliciously chaotic about 'R.E.B. (resonant Envelope Boy)' from Jenny Sparks, who lets loose on Off Me Nut with a mind-bending blend of rave nostalgia, hardcore and bassline grit. It's a fourth wall smashing album, with the introductory 'How To Make A Bassline Song' giving us an immediate feel for Jenny's approach. From then onwards, we are faced with an onslaught of goofy bass squelches and warbling LFO tweaks, from the minimal, game-like textures of Soda Crush and more moody slaloms of 'Drop The Flipping Bass', through to more experimental skips of 'Hate On Me' and flat out bizarre melodies of 'Swiss Rollers'. It's a fantastic exploration of niche bassline, and Off Me Nut is without a doubt the perfect home.
