Clyppan is a ritual document from Newcastle’s Smote, capturing the band’s electrifying live set at London’s Bear Bites Horse studio. The title, from Old English, means “to embrace” and references an ancient ritual of communal singing around a sacred site. This release features four hypnotic, drone-driven tracks that pulse with primal energy and spiritual intensity.

Recorded the day before their thunderous performance at the ICA and following a transcendent tour after 2024’s A Grand Stream, Clyppan is the distilled essence of Smote’s live power.
