Johnny Average Band’s sole album was essentially a one-off side studio project by Mick Hodgkinson (Ronson), the keyboard player for the band The Falcons. The album features Nikki Wills who was Mick’s wife and also sang for The Falcons. Both are featured on the front cover artwork. The album features a variety of styles with Reggae, New Wave and Power Pop Rock being well in the mix. Notable Cuts: Opener ‘Thermostat’ has a power pop influence in its fast paced rhythms and nice synth vibes keep things cool in the female fronted wave in tagged album single ‘Ch Ch Cherie’. Reggae moves take ‘Shake Your Shake’ to interesting levels. ‘Gotta Go Home’ was the B side to ‘Ch Ch Cherie’ single and has a mid-tempo Blondie vibe. The standout has to go to the catchy new waver ‘Public Image’.
