Dakh Daughters - Pandora’s Box (2025) [Hi-Res]

Pandora’s Box is the fourth studio album by the Ukrainian all-female freak cabaret band Dakh Daughters, formed in 2012 by actresses of Kyiv’s Dakh Theatre. Comprising nine tracks, the album is a musical prophecy reflecting the chaos of modernity triggered by war, lies, and social polarization. The title track, released as a single with a music video on March 7, 2025, is described as a “chilling anthem against global indifference” and a manifesto illustrating how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine opened a “Pandora’s box,” unleashing dictatorship, propaganda, and the illusion of freedom. The album blends theatrical elements, Ukrainian folklore, punk, rock, and classical poetry, performed in Ukrainian, Russian, English, and French. Instruments include double bass, cello, violin, piano, accordion, percussion, and more, creating the band’s signature dramatic sound. Lyrics draw inspiration from Ukrainian literature, including Victoria Amelina’s work (“Повернення”), and address global themes like the fight for freedom and identity. The album was created as part of the Antidote project, aimed at countering manipulation and fostering societal resilience through art. Recorded at Studio Kaska Records by Ivan Kharytonchyk, mixed by Anton Ocheretianyi, mastered by Martin Bowes, with cover design by Oleksandr Kosmach.
