"A Book of Waves" is a collaborative album by sound artists Andy Graydon and Klaus Janek, created between 2022 and 2024 across Berlin, Minneapolis, Bahia (Brazil), and Maui (Hawaii). Born from a shift in their creative partnership due to Graydon’s move to the US, the album replaces live improvisational performances with an asynchronous exchange of recordings. The music explores a sonic language where Janek’s deep bass textures, crafted on double bass with processing, intertwine with Graydon’s field recordings and electronic experiments. Inspired by the concept of “writing on the water,” the compositions create a fluid, atmospheric soundscape, balancing improvisation with slowly evolving layers.
