Saul Williams, Carlos Nino & Friends - The Water is Rising / as we surpass the firing squad... (2025) [Hi-Res]

This is a live collaborative album by Saul Williams and Carlos Niño, recorded live under the trees of Coldwater Canyon Park in Los Angeles. The duo, longtime friends and collaborators, assembled a stellar ensemble of musicians to create a sprawling, electro-acoustic soundscape to provide a backdrop for Williams' inspired poetics. The track "The Water is Rising / as we surpass the firing squad..." also features poet Aja Monet. The piece is a work of two halves: Monet delivers a soft, apocalyptic reading from her notebook over hovering vibraphone and swirling woodwinds, and Williams follows her foreboding vision with a "solemnly hopeful" parable about a firing squad.
