Back in the mid-2010s, I was touring solo, sleeping in the back of a minivan, chasing something I couldn’t quite name. I’d scribble lyrics in notebooks on my dashboard, eat gas station food, and fall asleep wondering if any of it was adding up to anything real. I didn’t have much, but I had songs and a feeling in my gut that I had to keep going. Back then, catching a dream meant staying on the road, believing the songs mattered even when it felt like no one was listening.

Some of those early songs, the first love songs I ever wrote, made it onto this album. And somehow, they still sit naturally beside songs I wrote just this year, as a husband and a dad, with two little boys watching me...
