The music draws from the rich heritage of New Orleans, showcasing songs popularized by legends like Bessie Smith, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, The Meters, Harry Connick Jr., and Randy Newman. The album captures the spirit of “The Big Easy” through vibrant, sultry, and celebratory melodies interspersed with moments of heartbreak, reflecting the city’s resilience and zest for life. The musical follows a heartbroken young woman who rediscovers herself in New Orleans, a city where even major catastrophes, like the Great Flood of 1927 or Hurricane Katrina, are overcome through faith in the future and an embrace of the present.
