L’Euphonie des Coquecigrues, by Margaux Liénard, is an imaginative chamber folk creation featuring a string quartet and vocals, anchored by the “hardanger d’amore”—a violin-like instrument with sympathetic strings. The album weaves traditional folk repertoire from the Avesnois-Thiérache region (love songs, dances, lullabies, local “guinches”) with Margaux’s original compositions and inventive arrangements. The music unfolds with a delicate blend of wild baroque and domesticated folk, enriched with poetic and mythical imagery: the elusive Coquecigrues birds, lunar flights, migratory metaphors, and literary echoes reminiscent of Calvino and Barjavel.
