Kev Hopper - XIX (2025) [Hi-Res]

Dimple Discs presents XiX, the second full-length release from legendary bassist and experimental pop polymath Kev Hopper.

Known for his distinctive, melodic bass style and a career spanning forty years—including his role as co-founder of cult Irish-English outfit Stump—Hopper continues to push boundaries with a unique mix of surrealist pop, musique concrète and modern electronics. Composed, played and arranged entirely by Hopper, XiX explores Euclidean rhythms—overlapping, looping patterns—and features a palette of ‘faux vocals’, manipulated samples, and warped melodic structures.

Though largely instrumental, four vocal tracks delve into subjects as curious as seafood and economic ruin. The record’s aesthetic remains playful yet intricate, melodic yet strange—a natural extension of Hopper’s extensive solo work, as well as past projects Ticklish and Prescott.

Also a visual artist, Hopper documents his work and interviews fellow creatives via his YouTube channel, HopperArts.
