SLau Nau, Sontag Shogun - Päiväkahvit (2025) [Hi-Res]

Sontag Shogun and Finnish composer Lau Nau reconvene for Päiväkahvit, a companion to their 2021 collaboration Valo Siroutuu, drawn from the same 2019 sessions on the Finnish island of Kimitoön. Initially shaped in quieter times, the music later echoed a changed world, its intimacy and stillness taking on new resonance amid global uncertainty.

Päiväkahvit features nine unreleased pieces from those sessions, plus reworks by Amulets, Fadi Tabbal, Post-Dukes and Jeremy Young. Tape hiss, field recordings, processed piano, and modular synthesis are woven into a warmly reflective collection, full of quiet detail and domestic atmosphere. It’s an album that invites listeners into sunlit moments—by the water, in the garden, or sharing a coffee as afternoon fades.

Lau Nau is known for her work with acoustic instruments, reel-to-reel tape and electronics, and has released ten albums across Europe, the USA and Japan. She also composes for film and sound installations. Sontag Shogun fuse nostalgic piano with textures from natural materials and live processing, creating music that evokes memory and sensory space—more journey than destination.
