Tereza Catarov - Koren (2025)

PKmusik is proud to announce the upcoming release of 'Koren,' the deeply personal debut album by Romanian-born, London-based artist Tereza Catarov. A singer, pianist, and composer, Catarov blends contemporary jazz with traditional Balkan and Eastern European influences, creating a rich, evocative soundscape that bridges the old and the new.

Rooted in the stories and traditions of the Bulgarian community where she was raised, 'Koren' draws inspiration from the voices of women and the endangered Palkenski dialect — a language rarely heard in contemporary music. The album serves as a tribute to the grandmothers, the storytellers, and the cultural guardians whose songs shaped her upbringing.

'Koren' was recorded in late 2023 and features an ensemble of international musicians including Yiorgos Bereris (piano, Greece), Cem Evin (guitar, Turkey), Thodoris Ziarkas (double bass, Greece), and Billy Pod (drums, Greece). The album weaves jazz harmonies, folk melodies, and modern compositions into a sonic journey that is at once deeply personal and universally resonant.
