Chicago art-punk trio Ganser return with Animal Hospital, their most expansive and dynamic record to date. Recorded between January and March 2025 at Jamdek Studios with longtime collaborator Angus Andrew (Liars), the LP captures the band stretching their sonic boundaries while remaining rooted in their signature propulsive rhythms.

Core members Alicia Gaines, Sophie Sputnik, and Brian Cundiff drive the album with tightly wound drums, nervy basslines, and sharp-edged guitars, layered with synths that oscillate between tension and release. The result is a collection of tracks that pulse with urgency, inviting listeners to move—whether on the dancefloor or the sidewalk.

Lyrically, Animal Hospital delves into the absurdities and contradictions of contemporary life. Themes of transformation, isolation, and revelation thread through songs born from observations and notes dating back to 2020, with the exception of ‘Stripe,’ a reimagined demo from 2001.

Augmented by contributions from Charlie Landsman and Dove Hollis, and honed through tours with acts like IDLES, Mclusky, and Ted Leo, Ganser's latest effort stands as a testament to their evolution. Animal Hospital is a haunting, striking album that balances the surreal with the visceral, urging listeners to find beauty in contradiction.
