"Life Above" is a concept album by Swedish sound artist Patrik Berg Almkvisth, inspired by his experience living in a high-rise apartment in Stockholm. The album explores the soundscape of the tall building, blending field recordings from his flat and its surroundings with delicate modular synth textures and electronic processing. The sounds of daily life—distant sirens, the hum of elevators, neighbors' conversations, the rush of wind—are transformed into musical elements. The album reflects on themes of isolation and connection, private and public space, creating a contemplative and immersive sonic environment that captures the duality of urban life at an elevation.
